STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY / BIOPHYSICS HOME HOW TO APPLY MCB HOME OTHER MCB PROGRAMS

Cole Lab

My laboratory uses analytical ultracentrifugation and other biophysical techniques to study macromolecular interactions that regulate the interferon antiviral defense pathway and replication of HIV and Hepatitis C viruses. Current research opportunities focus on PKR, an antiviral kinase that is activated by double-stranded RNA

We currently have openings for students to work on the following projects:

  • Mechanism of activation and inhibition of PKR by viral RNAs and proteins.

  • Structural analysis of PKR by small angle X-ray and neutron scattering.

  • Interaction of PKR with substrates and host factors.
